Checkpoint timing for Hyrox-style events. Volunteers scan athletes with their own phones; no hardware, no app to install.
Do not slow anyone down to get a scan. A missed scan costs one split; a queue at the station costs everyone's race. If someone runs past unscanned, let them go — the start, the middle and the finish are what a result is built from, and the rest is detail. Phones queue scans while offline and sync when the signal returns, so a dead patch of wifi is not a reason to stop.
You can rename stations afterwards. Every station starts scanned at both ends, which you can relax per station once the course is set.
Both ends gives a true station time and a true run time either side. Entry only halves the scanning at that station, but its time and the run after it can never be separated afterwards. The start and finish are fixed — results are measured from them — so they can be renamed but not moved or removed.
Each sheet is one printed page with a QR square. A volunteer scans it to sign their phone in — a judge's code only works at its own station.
Creates a fresh code per station plus one for the start line, and opens them ready to print.
Print them when they appear. The code inside a QR is shown once and never stored — if you close the window without printing, those sheets are dead and you will have to revoke them and create them again.
Every phone that has joined. A working phone checks in about once a minute, so one that has been quiet for several minutes has lost its network, been closed, or gone to sleep — worth chasing before athletes reach that station.
The first row must be a header, and it has to include
bib. Everything else is optional: name, division,
wave, sex (F, M or X), age. Column order does not
matter and extra columns are ignored. Blank cells mean “not given” and stay empty rather
than being guessed at.

Row 102 shows the two things worth knowing: a name containing a comma goes in quotes, and blank sex or age is fine.
One QR per athlete, three to a row, ready to cut up. Unlike a station sheet these are only identifiers, so reprint them as often as you like.
Deleting an event destroys its course, roster, join codes and every time recorded against it. There is no undo and no backup.
